Call for Applications: WIDE+ Annual Transnational Capacity-Building Event

Call for Applications: WIDE+ Annual Transnational Capacity-Building Event

Migrant Women’s Democratic Participation & Capacity Building towards Improving Impact and Strategic Planning

24 – 27 September, 2026 | Bucharest, Romania

WIDE+ invites member organisations and individuals to apply to participate in its (bi-)annual transnational capacity-building meeting. The meeting will combine two capacity-building activities. There will be two days of capacity-building to exchange and learn about Migrant Women’s Democratic Participation. The other two days are reserved for strategic planning and training, including collective planning to shape the strategies & programme of the European Feminist Forum and a training on enhancing the impact of WIDE+.

Three groups of members and partners are invited to apply for participation support:

  • Members of the gender and migration working group, including volunteers and partners;
  • Members of the caucus (including the board);
  • Other active members and volunteers.

Travel, accommodation and local expenses will be covered. Most of the available support will be geared to the participation of members of the Gender and Migration Working Group and the WIDE+ caucus. There is also room for others. We encourage and welcome applications from all WIDE+ members who are passionate and interested in capacity building and who would like to contribute with their knowledge, experience and perspective.

The Capacity Building Event

The event will last four full days from Thursday 24 September to Sunday 27 September and will be held in Bucharest, Romania. The event will gather up to 55 participants. The WIDE+ network is developing the programme, but the event is made possible through the host Imago Mundi in Romania.

The meeting will combine two capacity-building activities that each have a different focus. There will be two days of capacity building to exchange and learn about Migrant Women’s Democratic Participation. Through participatory workshops, policy discussions, peer-learning spaces, and creative methodologies, participants will explore how migrant women (and gender diverse folks) contribute to the democratic fabric of European societies as leaders, organisers, advocates, and agents of change.

The other two days are reserved for strategic planning and training, including collective planning to shape the strategies & programme of the European Feminist Forum and a training on enhancing the impact of WIDE+. A smaller ad hoc working group of members has been developing a draft concept that will serve as a base to come to a collective vision and plan for shaping the forum. In addition, there will be capacity building offered on how to improve an organisation’s impact, in particular that of the WIDE+ network.

The selection of participants whose travel and stay will be covered will be based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience or engagement in a thematic work area or topic of WIDE+, ideally with a connection to the promotion of migrant women’s rights, gender equality, democratic participation, and social inclusion;
  • Motivation to participate actively in the meeting and actively contribute to the WIDE+ network after the meeting;
  • Potential to apply and disseminate the knowledge, skills, and practices gained through the meeting within their organisation, community, or advocacy work;
  • Diversity of organisational backgrounds, expertise, geographical representation, and perspectives, to ensure a rich and inclusive exchange among participants;
  • Priority will be given to WIDE+ members and volunteers, particularly members of the Gender and Migration Working Group and the Caucus, while maintaining space for other working group representatives.
